Rachel Riggio

My name is Rachel Riggio. I am an author, entrepreneur, philanthropist, artist, environmental activist, and defender of the underdog. I like writing about topics that I believe will change the world. I believe society and the media have programmed us against our human nature and our natural tendency to care for each other.

Recently I met Devon, from DLK Publishing. It was one of those divine synchronicities that happen when you trust your intuition and let the flow of the universe have its way with you. I am incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to write, share this incredible journey that life has been, and hopefully, inspire you so that we may rise collectively in consciousness.

I believe things are shifting in our world today, we have been pushed to the ultimate limit of what we have been programmed to believe is important, to find there lies no satisfaction. I believe the average person is more inclined to seek peace and truth, during this time in human history. Materialism and superficiality have obviously not fulfilled us. With a perspective shift, one’s whole world can change and I hope that my books inspire you to love yourself, know your worth and rise in unity with all of our brothers and sisters.

A bit about me: I was born in Los Angeles California, to an entrepreneur and a swimsuit model. We lived a beautiful life full of love. When I was four, my sister 2 & my brother 1, our father filed for bankruptcy and passed away two days later. Life was incredibly tumultuous after that. My one-of-a-kind mom went from being a model with no college experience to taking over my father’s company and becoming one of the top sales agents in the United States. She taught me to always believe in myself. I

excelled in school until my best friend died in a car accident when I was 15 years old. I turned to drugs and alcohol to numb my life completely. I ended up in the juvenile hall and then the middle of the wilderness in Utah, hiking around with a bunch of other delinquents trying to make sense of who I am and what life is all about.

I started an immensely spiritual journey to figure out what’s the point of life, how do I want to use this opportunity and how can we come to peace with all the suffering. After graduating from the rehabilitation center, I became a youth addictions counselor working for six years for inpatient and outpatient treatment facilities & group homes.

At age 25, I felt called to become a foster parent to three 16-year-old foster kids that I had met at work. We learned many lessons from each other and though it was incredibly difficult, I would not take it back for the world. After things fell apart with them, I sold all my things and I decided to move to Cambodia. I just wanted to be surrounded by humility and gratitude. I fell in love with the country and the people.

I founded and developed a free education and community development project called the Red Road Foundation with my brother. We are providing free education, providing alternatives for waste management, recycling, providing sustainability leadership internships for students worldwide, and generally making the world a better place. A percentage of all that I write is donated to The Red Road.

The Red Road Foundation

We are a free education center working our way to self-sustainability. We are building village-led social enterprises while addressing critical global issues, such as waste and education. We bring people from all over the world together in cross-cultural collaborations and experiential learning that raises the quality of living for all involved. We promote student leadership & foster immersive travel for our interns. May young minds have the opportunity to grow into sustainability-focused, philanthropic innovators. We are implementing a new model to turn waste into resources through affordable housing, in hopes that it can spread to other villages and throughout the world! We are seeking inspired minds to make long-term, sustainable impacts. We offer an internship focusing on Leadership, Impact Business, and Sustainable Development that utilizes the talents, skills, and passions of all involved to build a more conscious world.
